Augusta, GA- The Michael Baisden One Million Mentors Tour bus will arrive in Augusta, Georgia on March 30, 2010. The first stop is Paine College for the Michael Baisden One Million Mentors Tour Town Hall Meeting beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel.

For 2010, The Michael Baisden Foundation's focus is mentoring, which birthed the One Million Mentors Campaign to Save Our Kids Tour. Baisden will travel to over 70 markets nationwide to help in this endeavor. He has committed $5,000 to each of his markets and is challenging his listeners in each market to match or beat his contribution. The goal is to inspire one million caring adults to become responsible mentors.

During the town hall meeting Baisden will hear from members of the Augusta Community like Dr. Dana Bedden, Superintendent of Richmond County Schools, Steven Kendrick, Youth Leadership Richmond County, Lt. Scott Pebbles, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Louis Walter of Youth Challenge Academy, Jerry Smith of Dads In Action and Dr. Doris Mulden Hickson, principal of Midland Valley High School.

Clear Channel Radio and several groups and organizations throughout the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) are joining forces to assist Baisden in saving our kids. The tour is sponsored in part by Paine College, Richmond County School System, The City of Augusta, Augusta Partnership for Children, Inc., Augusta Recreation & Parks and Real McCoy Brokerage Company, LLC.

According to the Foundation, three million young people are currently benefiting from the guidance of caring adult mentors and with the combined efforts of the mentoring organizations and campaigns like this the mentoring gap can be closed so that the 15 million children who currently need mentors also can benefit from caring mentors. There are currently about 4,600 mentoring programs in the national network of Mentoring Partnerships.
