Augusta,GA - Paulette Payne, '97 is currently vying for an opportunity to host her OWN talk show, “the P factor,” on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network. “the P factor” will chronicle the P’s—passion, perseverance and purpose—in the lives of women, and shed light on the experiences of women who seek self-fulfillment, self-mastery and connectivity to life and hope. In addition, “the P factor” will also chronicle the P’s with which many women struggle—passivity, poverty and procrastination—and the means they utilize to overcome them.

“I am convinced, that when women are whole and well, the community reflects her strength. When this happens, young girls will model their mother’s courage, their sister’s confidence, their aunt’s fearlessness, their grandmother’s boldness," Payne said.
When Oprah Winfrey and reality TV producer Mark Burnett announced they were joining forces to search for TV’s next talk show star, Payne, who has always wanted to host her own talk show, knew this was her opportunity to share the commonality in the cycles of women’s lives that bind them together regardless of color, class and geographical location.  Payne’s OWN show, “the P factor,” strives to be the vehicle that gives women voice to personal power.
In 1997, Payne obtained a dual bachelors degree in Mass Communications and English from Paine College, where she also graduated Cum Laude. She most recently earned a Master of Arts Degree in Africana Women’s Studies from Clark Atlanta University in May 2010. Payne has served over eleven years as a Public Relations and Communications professional, and is also an experienced journalist having served as an Associate Producer for WJBF News Channel 6 in Augusta, GA.
