Indianapolis, Ind. – The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field committee has announced the participants for the 2011 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships, and Paine College Lady Lion, Baiesha Johnson will be one of the 620 participants, 310 women and 310 men.
The championship which is slated for May 26-28, 2011 will be held in Turlock, California at the Al Brenda Track Complex. California State University, Stanislaus, will serve as host of the championships.
The freshman Brunswick, Georgia native qualified for the championship by reaching either the automatic and provisional standards established for the women’s long jump, and women’s high jump. An automatic standard for the women’s long jump is 6.01m and provisional standard is 5.65m. The automatic and provisional standards for the women’s high jump are 1.75m and 1.68m respectively. Johnson qualified for the long jump competition, March 25, 2011 at the Winthrop University Invite, with a mark of 5.96m. In the high jump competition, Baiesha qualified May 14, 2011 at the Alice Coachman Invitational in Albany, GA at 1.76m.

“I am very excited to have Baiesha representing Paine College in not one event but in two events in the nationals this year”, states Lucette. "I know that she will represent the institution well both on and off the field.”
Baiesha Johnson was named to the Women’s first team All- Conference team for field events in both the high jump and long jump, and she also took first place honors in both the women’s high jump with a mark of 1.68m and a mark of 5.68m in the long jump competitions at the 2011 SIAC Track and Field Championships. On top of that, Johnson has now earned a trip to the national championships in her freshman year. In addition to being a member of the track and field teams, Baiesha is also a member of the Lady Lions Cross Country team and Lady Lions Basketball team.
The Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be streamed live, NCAA.com each day of the championships. Baiesha is scheduled for the Women’s Long Jump Competition, Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 7:00 PM and the Women’s High Jump Competition, Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 6:00 PM.
