(Augusta, GA) – Paine College students are dedicated to engaging in the democratic process and are committed to empowering others to increase their political awareness in the electoral process. The Gamma Beta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will host a Presidential Debate Watch Party at the Peters Campus Center, Wednesday evening, October 3rd at 9 p.m. in C.H.O.I.C.E.S. located on the campus of Paine College. The public is invited to join the students in stimulating dialogue about the Debate topic "Foreign Policy" and other critical issues that have been at the forefront of the presidential campaigns.
This year student organizations are encouraging students and the community to participate in the November election by registering to vote, educating themselves about the candidates and their platforms, and by exercising their civic rights that so many Civil Rights leaders have fought for.
Sean Anderson, an Augusta native and a freshman at Paine College, said "Every vote counts, every vote matters and it’s your opportunity to be heard as an American. Like so many of my classmates, this will be my first time voting in the general election. This debate watch party will be informative and will help other students who are first-time voters to get a better view of the presidential candidates and their platforms."
