(AUGUSTA, GA) – The Paine College baseball team will lend their time to the Golden Living Nursing home of Augusta, Ga, on Saturday, October 6, 2012.

The baseball team is no stranger to volunteer efforts. In September, members of the College’s baseball team assisted in the painting and yard maintenance of a local Augusta home with Habitat for Humanity. "This project will definitely bring the team bond closer", said Darryl Wilson, a senior business administration major from Waterbury, Connecticut.

"What I would like for the team to take away from this community service project is that life is precious and by giving someone a smile and a feeling that you care and appreciate them, will be the best thing that has happened for some of these patients in a long time", explained Melvin Marshall, Paine College baseball coach. "It is a blessing for the guys to show respect and love to the patients".

The Lions were 29-22 during the 2011-2012 baseball season and advanced to the SIAC Conference Championship Tournament. Their first game of the 2012-2013 school year will be February 2, 2013 at 12noon against Tuskegee University.
