(Augusta, GA) – “I want my ideas to be heard,” stated rising senior Fantasia Harvey. The Brooklyn, New York native has earned a summer internship position with HBCULink UP, a national online network focused on providing information and educational opportunities for Junior High, High School and College. HBCU Link Up also provides corporations the opportunity to offer career openings for all students.
Harvey began her collegiate career at Paine College in Augusta 2010 and has been quite a busy student. The Media Studies major with an emphasis on Public Relations serves as the Student Government Association 1st Vice President for the 2013-2014 school year. Harvey also lends her time as a Student Ambassador, Communications Association member and Resident Hall Assistant.
“When I received the information on this summer internship opportunity, I immediately applied. The president of HBCU Link Up accepted my application. I then had to write a sample blog article in regards to ‘Why I want to work in Public Relations’,” said Harvey. She was then quickly contacted for an interview and learned of her new position within a week.
Harvey participated in a week long orientation in preparation for her Public Relations position at HBCU Link Up, where she will be writing articles and conducting research on possible stories for the networking website. “This is a great opportunity for me to network because I never know where this can take me and what doors can open for me,” said Harvey.
Harvey is a strong believer that one must "…be happy about what you have. Be excited about what you want. The mystery of life is not a problem to be solved...it is a reality to be experienced"
