A Timeline of Achievements

  • June 2017 – Dr. Jerry L. Hardee took the helm of Paine College in June 2017 as the Institution's Sixteenth President.
  • June 2017 to February 2018 – The College implemented renovations and repairs valued over $1.5 million. The extensive renovations and refurbishments were designed to facilitate a safe and aesthetically pleasing living, learning and working environment for the campus community. Renovations occurred in residential halls, academic buildings, campus life facilities and most noticeably in the Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel, Mary Helm Hall, Haygood-Holsey Hall, and in Peters Campus Center.
  • August 2017 – The College hired additional recruiters and admissions officers to increase enrollment.
  • August 2017 – Department of Athletics unveiled new design for Lion Athletics logo.
  • September 2017 – The UNCF commissioned an independent study that proved Paine College generated $33 million in total economic impact for its local and regional economies.
  • October 2017 --- Department of Athletics unveiled new design for athletics website.
  • October 2017 – The College adopted the Comprehensive Strategic Enrollment and Management Plan that serves as a roadmap for building capacity, increasing fundraising and partnership opportunities, while raising enrollment and retention rates.
  • November 2017 – The College revived the Interfaith Prayer Breakfast that generated over $23,000.00 for the Annual Fund Campaign.
  • November 2017 – The College revived the Ann N. Johnson Music Festival that benefited the Augusta UNCF Scholarship Campaign.
  • December 2017 – Department of Athletics opened online apparel shop.
  • December 2017 --- In an effort to increase the Institution's visibility and cultivate support, the College published its first edition of Emerging Anew e-Newsletter. The hard copy edition followed in January 2018.
  • January 2018 – In an effort to increase enrollment and retention, the College held its inaugural Parents Weekend and High School Day activities.
  • January 2018 – The Office of Institutional Advancement facilitated the Greenville Alumni Chapter, the first in the state of South Carolina.
  • February 2018 – The College revived the Annual President's Scholarship Gala and Masked Ball that was in hiatus since 2014. The event benefited the Augusta UNCF Scholarship Campaign raising over $60,000.00.
  • February 2018 – The College continued to focus on improving the Physical Plant and renovated the Warren A. Candler Memorial Library.
  • February 2018 – The College renovated and transformed the former Security Station to the Paine College Information Station.
  • February 2018 – College officials held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Residential Hall that will be erected on Druid Park Avenue. The new Residential Hall will house 250 students.
  • February 2018 – The College witnessed several individual major gifts that ranged from $10,000.00 to $150,000.00 from loyal alumni and friends.
  • February 2018 – The College reactivated the Alumni Relations Office.
  • February 2018 – After a long hiatus, Leon the Lion Mascot returned during Homecoming 2018 Anniversary.
  • February 2018 – The Lion Shop that features Paine paraphernalia returned after a long hiatus.
  • March 2018 – The Office of Institutional Advancement reported that the 2017-2018 Paine College UNCF Annual Scholarship Campaign exceeded its goal of $76,000.00 having reached over $100,000.00. The College will receive approximately 3 to 1 distribution from the UNCF during the 2018-2019 fiscal cycle.
