GENERAL SUMMARY: Paine College is a private institution steeped in the tenets of Methodism that provides a liberal arts education of the highest quality. Faculty in the Department of Media Studies are expected to teach undergraduate courses which may include day, evening, weekend, online, and/or hybrid courses; advise students; engage in teaching practices with an acute focus on documenting student learning; serve on faculty committees; attend departmental, faculty and other meetings; attend College convocations; and pursue professional service opportunities at the local, regional, and national levels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Candidates should provide a record of or potential for scholarly publication and activity in the field of Mass Communication and involve students whenever possible, as well as the demonstrated potential for effective teaching using a variety of methods. Candidates should also demonstrate an ability or interest in teaching in a multicultural, multiethnic campus. In addition to teaching, duties include student advising and committee service.
QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Doctorate/similar qualifications with a major in Mass Communication and with a background or specialization in broadcasting, journalism, or drama. Possess a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in Mass Communication. Have experience in the field of Mass Communication and meet appropriate professional qualifications.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Professional Development Plan (PDP) and/or the College's evaluation instrument for instructional personnel/faculty.

OTHER: Experience working with a diverse population with varying language skills and experiences. Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, etc.). Previous college experience teaching undergraduate courses. The ability to maintain confidentiality (FERPA, etc.) and the ability to teach using multiple modalities.
