Salary Range: $21/hour

General Summary

The Plumber provides high level maintenance repair and upgrades in support of the Campus facilities. The Plumber is a trusted individual who always maintains confidentiality. The Plumber performs day-to-day maintenance repairs to various campus buildings and is counted on to keep the plumbing systems operating efficiently. Responsibilities include managing repairs, maintenance and equipment replacement for plumbing system. The Plumber has knowledge of the College's policies and understand and respects the College's Mission, Vision, Ethical and Spiritual Values, biblical Foundation Statement, and Christian Philosophy of Education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance repairs on supply lines, drains, toilets, sinks and water heaters.
  • Complete work orders submitted by residential halls, academic/support building and staff housing.
  • Develop and maintain an adequate inventory of basic plumbing supplies.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing systems
  • Install plumbing systems in rehab projects.
  • Obtain working permits as necessary for new installation and equipment replacement.
  • Understand and adhere to local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
  • Participate in setups for meetings, homecoming, commencement and other events occurring on Campus.
  • Perform other duties and repairs assigned by FMES management.
  • Requires immediate response to emergencies or hazardous conditions.

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will have:
  • Associate degree preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of plumbing experience is preferred.
  • High level knowledge of maintenance and repair of plumbing systems.
  • Ability to operate power equipment associated with plumbing repairs/replacements.
  • Understand current regulations in the field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as strong people skills.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of plumbing systems operating standards.
  • Ability to adapt to the Academic and team oriented environment.
  • Ability to work occasionally beyond traditional hours of operation (e.g., evenings and weekends)
  • Ability to keep all communications confidential pertaining to College Operations.

This job will be evaluated in accordance with the Professional Development Plan (PDP) and/or the College's evaluation instrument for non-instructional personnel/staff.
