Director of Athletics

FSLA Type: Exempt

Salary Range: $75,000 - $82,000 per year

Reports To: The President

Terms of Employment: Twelve Months

Opening Date: 12/16/2025

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Athletic Director is responsible for administering all facets of the athletic program including budget management, athletic staff, supervision, scheduling, fundraising, promotions, and public relations.

The Director ensures that the intercollegiate athletic program is administered fully in accordance with the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the college’s policies.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervision and evaluation of personnel responsible for athletic activities
  • Oversight of the scheduling and maintenance of the athletic and recreational facilities
  • Ensures adherence to policies within the department
  • Serves as the ambassador of the Athletics Program within the community
  • Serves as a member of the Administrative Council
  • Serves as a member of the Committee on Strategic Planning and Evaluation
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned by the President

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. Experience working in a college athletics program and/or coaching required. Other requirements include:

  • A strong commitment to the continuing success of the student-athlete
  • A proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups of individuals
  • The knowledge and ability to develop and manage an operating budget effectively
  • A working knowledge of NCAA regulations and policies
  • Experience recruiting, teaching, coaching and mentoring students that creates a community of inclusion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience in fund raising and promotion, with the ability to establish, develop and nurture relations and partnerships that are beneficial to the Athletics Program
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Professional Development Plan (PDP) and/or the College’s evaluation instrument for faculty/staff.
