Paine College to Host the 2020 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

Paine College, along with Augusta University and Augusta Technical College, will pay tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Friday, January 17, 2020, from12:00 PM - 1:30 PM. The celebration will take place in the Gilbert-Lambuth Memorial Chapel at Paine College is free and open to the public.
Dr. King spent his adult life leading the civil rights movement through non-violent protests. A critical figure in the Civil Rights Movement, Dr. King helped organize pivotal events like the Montgomery Bus Boycott. King also inspired the Civil Rights Act enacted in 1964.
Reverend Adam Russell Taylor will deliver the keynote address. Reverend Taylor is the Senior Political Director of Sojourners, a Christian organization that integrates spirituality with social justice and the author of Mobilizing Hope: Faith-Inspired Activism for a Post Civil Rights Generation (2010).
