Paine College Launches Air Force Association (AFA) CyberCamp

Paine College will launch its inaugural Air Force Association (AFA) CyberCamp on June 11th for Middle and High School students. Paine College is among distinguished organizations across the United States selected to participate in the 2018 AFA CyberCamp Program this summer. Beginning June 11th through June 15th, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, students will be introduced to cyber safety, cyber ethics and learn cyber defense skills.

The five-day camp will be held in the Collins-Callaway Library and will accommodate 20 students. Students are invited to register by visiting www.paine.edu, or http://bit.ly/PaineCollegeAFACyberCamp. A registration fee of $199.00 is required and must be paid prior start date. Lunch is not included in registration fee.

Registration fee can be paid via credit card or check payable to Paine College. Contact or visit the Cashier's Office in Haygood Holsey Hall, Room 110. Students will learn how to protect their personal devices and private information from outside threats, while being introduced to the cybersecurity industry and STEM fields. The AFA CyberCamp will culminate in an exciting team-based competition that places students in the role of IT administrators tasked with addressing cybersecurity vulnerabilities in simulated network environments.

Paine College President Jerry L. Hardee, said, "In our move to build bridges that will lead to addressing the nation's cybersecurity workforce shortage, we developed a hands-on and user friendly cyber camp that will introduce middle and high school students to Cyber and STEM fields. We have embarked upon an ambitious path to prepare, train and steer young minds to aspire for cyber-related careers and professions.
