Paine College Launches the Space Station Explorers in Partnership with CASIS

Paine College is one of the distinguished institutions across the United States selected to partner with Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS). CASIS was chosen by NASA to manage the International Space Station (ISS) of the U.S. National Laboratory that provides an opportunity for students to engage in space-based research.

CASIS is committed to expanding K-20 student engagement with the ISS in fields ranging from plant biology to Earth observation, human adaptation, robotics, and energy. In the Paine College Space Station Explorers program, Paine scientists, engineers, and students will design and launch experiments and have the opportunity to interact directly with ISS-based experiments. CASIS holds Space Station Explorers competitions and events throughout the year where students compete to send their experiments to the ISS National Lab.

"This partnership is a great opportunity for Paine College to expand opportunities for young people in our service area to increase their knowledge and be exposed to non-traditional learning modalities," said Paine College President, Dr. Jerry L.
