The Paine College Family Mourns the Passing of Faithful Alumnus Edmond L. Fordham ’52

Mr. Edmond L. Fordham '52 faithfully carried the torch for his beloved Alma Mater until his passing on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the age of 94. He was a long-time educator, impactful community member, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Preceding him in death, his loving and devoted wife of 67 years Tommie and his oldest daughter Paula. He leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter Krista Fordham and three grandchildren Jamila, Kristina, and Edmond II.

"A constant presence on campus, Mr. Fordham rarely missed Alumni Reunions, Homecoming, and Founders' celebrations," commented President Cheryl Evans Jones. "He and his spouse Tommie were strong supporters of the Annual Fund Campaign and gave generously of their time and finances. We will miss Mr. Fordham greatly but his legacy will last for generations in Lion Nation."

"We feel the loss of Mr. Fordham throughout the College community," said Helene Carter, VP of Institutional Advancement. "Mr. Fordham and his late wife Tommie were devout Paineites who exhibited a deep passion for their Alma Mater. Upon my arrival at Paine in 2009, the Fordhams were the first to encourage me to go the distance and stay the course."

In lieu of flowers, the Family requests donations be made to Paine College. You can send the donation directly to the college c/o Institutional Advancement, at Paine College, 1235 15th St., Augusta, GA 30901, or you can make a check payable to Paine College on behalf of Edmond Fordham Class of 1952 and mail to: P.O. Box 3331 Ocala, FL 34478 and the family will make sure the college receives the donation. Donations can also be made online at Paine.edu/give.

Mr. Fordham will lie in repose at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church,123 SW 3rd Ave, Ocala, FL 34471 Friday, August 5th, 2022, from 6pm-8pm. His Celebration of Life service will be held at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, located at 123 SW 3rd Ave, Ocala, FL 34471 on Saturday, August 6th at 10am.
