Dear Alumni and Friends:
It's that time of year again when we gather to bear witness and celebrate the Paine College Experience. The theme rings true: It's A Family Affair. As I ponder the classic song by The O'Jays Family Reunion, I envision young and the ‘young at heart' coming together under one roof for one divine purpose to declare and share our love for Paine.
This will mark the 75th Anniversary of the Class of 1944, the last class to have graduated under the Paine High School. I am pleased that we will honor all of the living Alumni of the Paine High School during Reunion Weekend and dedicate the 2019 Commencement Convocation to our Paine High School graduates.
I want to appeal to the Paine College National Alumni Association and to the Paine Community to join in this effort, using your knowledge, contacts and social networks to reach out and invite the Paine High School Graduates to the weekend celebration. Let us know where they are so that we too can reach out and accommodate them during the weekend of festivities.
Then there is the Golden Class of 1969 who will celebrate their 50th Anniversary. We ask the Class of 1969 to contact alumnus Jesse Cummings at (706) 869-9084, Jessecummings@aol.com or reach out to the Advancement Office (706) 821-8233 to register, participate and make your Reunion Gift.
To all of our Recent Graduates – come ready to create the time of your life. This is your home. Bring It! Whether you graduated from Paine five years or decades ago, Paine is forever a part of your DNA. Come to the place where your heart bleeds purple and white.
Finally, make sure to get your tickets for the Friday night Family Affair Party. Wear white and come ready to be entertained and enjoy the festivities. Don't be a stranger.
Wyonnie and I look forward to celebrating with you. We'll leave the porchlight on!
Jerry L. Hardee, Ed.D., President
