Paine College Mail Center Paine College Mail Center is here to provide mailing services to the college community. The following information will explain the services available at our Mail Center.

United States Postal Service (USPS)
The mail center provides many services offered to you by the USPS (United States Postal Service, UPS (United Parcel Service) and FEDEX and DHL. The services we offer are as follows:

Packages and Letter
Packages may be picked up during open hours by bringing the card that indicates you have a package to the Mail Center window. Accountable mail (Express, Certified, Insured and Registered) may be picked up with the card and must be signed for by the recipient. Both (packages & accountable mail) require proper picture ID to claim it. Delivered Departmental Accountable mail will have a card attached to the package as a courtesy to the department. This card must be signed and returned to the Mail Center as soon as possible. Packages MUST be claimed as soon as possible. They will be RETURNED TO SENDER after seven days.
Inter-Departmental Mail
All inter-departmental mail can be dropped off at the campus mail slot at the Mail Center. Please correctly label these envelopes with the full name of the recipient and the department name where they work. Please do not address inter-departmental mail to buildings or rooms.
Inter-Campus Mail
Mail for student mailboxes must be properly addressed (name & box number). For mass mailings, we require two day time frame for insertion. No items smaller than a postcard will be accepted. Single full sheet items must be tri-folded, and 1/2-sheet items must be folded in half.
Stamps
Stamps are available for purchase at the Mail Center. Orders for large quantities should be placed one month in advance.
First Class Mail
A class of mail that includes all matter wholly or partly in writing or typewriting, all actual and personal correspondence, all bills and statements of account, and all matter sealed or otherwise closed against inspection. First Class Mail comprises three subclasses: postcards, letters and sealed parcels, and Priority Mail. Any mailable matter may be sent as First Class Mail.
Priority Mail
First Class Mail that weighs more than 13 ounces and, at the mailer's option, any other mail matter weighing 13 ounces or less. Priority Mail provides expedited delivery. Any mailable matter may be sent as Priority Mail. All Priority Mail must be handed to the window clerk. You CANNOT place Priority Mail in a USPS Mailbox.
Express Mail
A mail class that provides expedited delivery service for mailable matter subject to certain standards. Express Mail International Service is available between the United States and most foreign countries. Must be at the college mail center by 1:00 pm.
Certified Mail
A service that provides the sender with a mailing receipt. A record of delivery is kept at the post office of address. This type of mail must be sent at First Class Mail or Priority Mail rates. Certified mail may be combined with return receipt service.
Insured Mail
A service that provides indemnity coverage for a lost, rifled, or damaged article, subject to the standards for the service and payment of the applicable fee.
Return Receipt
The mailing card (Form 3811 for domestic mail) signed by the addressee of an article and mailed back to the sender as evidence of delivery. This supplemental mail service is available for a fee when using Express Mail or certified mail or mail insured for more than $50.00.
International Mail
Mail originating in one country with a destination in another.
Postage Stamp
A gummed or self-adhesive paper stamp affixed to mail as payment for postal services. Stamps are available for purchase for your individual or office use. Stamps for College use can be signed for and billed to your account by authorized personnel.
UPS Next Day Air
Guaranteed delivery to all 50 states by 10:30 am, noon, or end of the day the next business day, depending on destination.
UPS Next Day Air Saver
Guaranteed delivery by 3:00 pm or 4:30 pm the next business day to commercial destinations where UPS Next Day Air delivery is committed by 10:30 am or noon, respectfully.
UPS 2nd Day Air
Guaranteed on-time delivery by the end of the second business day to every address throughout the United States.
UPS Three Day Select
Guaranteed delivery by the end of the third business day to every address in the 48 contiguous states.
UPS Ground
Guaranteed day-definite delivery to every address in the 48 contiguous states.
Student Mail
Student mail is placed in the respective dorm boxes for the Dorm Director or Dorm Assistant. If the student has accountable mail (see Packages and Letters), a Notification Card with the date, student's name and the type of mail received. This card is placed in the Dorm Box, for the Dorm Director can give to the student.

Seniors must turn in their mailbox key the Friday BEFORE senior week.
In the summer you must do one of the following:
- Fill out a forwarding card to have your mail forwarded home.
- Fill out a card to have your mail placed in your mailbox.
The student mailboxes are inactive for the summer months. YOU MUST inform us on how to handle your mail, if not it will be returned to sender.
