Aflac joins community partners in honoring golf legend Jim Dent and supporting the future of Paine College Golf.

AUGUSTA, GA (October 27, 2026) – Paine College is proud to announce Aflac as a “Purple on the Green” Sponsor of the Jim Dent Memorial Golf Classic, scheduled for Monday, November 9, 2026, at Mt. Vintage Golf Club in North Augusta, South Carolina.

Aflac’s $10,000 sponsorship is an investment in Paine’s golf program and our commitment to providing student-athletes with opportunities to succeed in the classroom and on the field.

The Jim Dent Memorial Golf Classic honors the remarkable life and legacy of Augusta native and Paine College alumnus Jim Dent, whose journey from caddying at Augusta National Golf Club to becoming one of professional golf’s most accomplished long-distance drivers serves as an enduring example of perseverance, determination, and excellence.

Dent, who passed away in May 2025, earned 12 victories on the PGA Champions Tour and was inducted into both the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. His legacy continues at Paine College, where his grandson, Andre Lacey, serves as head golf coach.

“We are grateful to Aflac for joining us in celebrating the legacy of Jim Dent and investing in the future of Paine College students,” said Teddy McDaniel, Vice President of Institutional Advancement. “This sponsorship will help us create opportunities for student-athletes while honoring a remarkable individual whose accomplishments continue to inspire generations.”

As a “Purple on the Green” Sponsor, Aflac joins presenting sponsor Frails & Wilson Attorneys at Law and other community partners in supporting the tournament’s mission.

The Jim Dent Memorial Golf Classic will bring together alumni, business leaders, golf enthusiasts, and supporters for a day of fellowship, friendly competition, and philanthropy. The tournament will feature an 18-hole, four-person scramble format, followed by an awards luncheon recognizing participants and sponsors.
