STUDENT SUCCESS IN MOTION

Leadership. Engagement. Opportunity. The Paine College Experience.

Dear Paine College Family,

As we continue building momentum for the 2026–2027 academic year, I am excited about the energy, leadership, and sense of purpose taking shape across our campus.

Student Success is about more than what happens inside the classroom. It is about creating opportunities for our students to lead, serve, grow, connect, and prepare for life beyond Paine College. From a renewed Student Government Association to an extraordinary opportunity for students to participate in the 63rd March on Washington, there is much to celebrate.

🦁 A NEW ERA OF STUDENT LEADERSHIP

SGA Inauguration | Saturday, August 29, 2026

Paine College is proud to celebrate the inauguration of our 2026–2027 Student Government Association and Class Boards.

Our student leaders have participated in leadership institutes and training designed to expand how they lead, serve, and engage their peers. This year also marks an exciting milestone: for the first time in years, Paine College has a full slate of student leaders, with key leadership roles filled across campus.

“Our student leaders have participated in leadership institutes and training that have expanded how they lead, serve, and engage their peers. I’m excited to see that growth reflected in our campus culture and morale. For the first time in years, we have a full slate of student leaders with key roles filled across campus, and I’m excited to see them lead!”

FROM PAINE TO THE MARCH ON WASHINGTON

On Friday, August 28, thirteen Paine College students will have the opportunity to travel and participate in the 63rd March on Washington, alongside Paine College alumnus Morris Porter.

The experience will allow our students to connect classroom learning and leadership development with history, civic responsibility, and the continuing importance of active citizenship.

“This will provide an invaluable opportunity for leadership development, civic engagement, and historical reflection.”

— Dr. Tywana Hemby, Provost & Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs

We are proud that our students will have an opportunity not simply to learn about history, but to experience a moment that encourages them to consider the role they can play in shaping the future.

MEET THE TEAM SUPPORTING STUDENT SUCCESS

Student success requires a strong network of professionals committed to helping our students discover their purpose, overcome challenges, prepare for careers, and make the most of their Paine College experience.

We are pleased to recognize several members of the Paine College team serving in new leadership roles:

Mr. Joseph Dingle
Director of Career, Military, and Workforce Engagement

Dr. Angelyne Brown
Assistant Vice President/Dean for Student Success

Mrs. Andrea Riley
Athletic Director

Dr. Alana Simmons
Project Director, TRIO Student Support Services

Mr. Bradley Jennings
Resident Director

Ms. Madison Stafford
Resident Director

Each brings an important perspective to our work, and together they strengthen the network of support available to our students—from residential life and academic support to athletics, career preparation, workforce engagement, and leadership development.

THE BEST IS YET TO COME

There is a renewed spirit of engagement at Paine College. Our students are stepping forward to lead. They are gaining experiences beyond the campus. And we are strengthening the team of professionals who will help them succeed along the way.

I encourage our entire Paine College family—faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends—to support our students, attend their programs, celebrate their accomplishments, and encourage them as they continue their journey.

This is Student Success in motion, and we are just getting started.

With Lion Pride,

Dr. Ala’Torya V. Cranford
Vice President for Student Success
